There’s More to Healdsburg Than What’s in Your Glass

7 Things to Do in Healdsburg This Fall

We love a great glass of Sonoma County wine as much as anyone, but there’s so much more to experience in Healdsburg beyond the tasting room.

Fall is one of our favorite times to explore. The vineyards begin to change color, the days are still beautiful, the evenings get a little cooler, and Healdsburg settles into that perfect Wine Country pace.

Here are 7 ways to experience Healdsburg this fall, along with a few Hotel Trio favorites and tips.

1. Start with a Stroll Around the Plaza

There’s no better way to get a feel for Healdsburg than spending a little time downtown. Wander around the Plaza, browse the boutiques and galleries, grab a coffee and enjoy a morning without much of an agenda.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: Start the morning at Flying Goat Coffee or Black Oak Coffee Roasters, then take your coffee for a walk around the Plaza.

And remember, Hotel Trio guests can hop on our complimentary downtown shuttle and leave the car behind.

2. Hit the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market

Fall is a great time to experience another side of Sonoma County’s agricultural roots.

The Saturday Healdsburg Farmers’ Market continues through December at the Foley Family Community Pavilion, just a short walk from the Plaza. Browse seasonal produce, artisan foods, flowers and locally made goods.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: Pick up a few local goodies to bring back to your suite. With a full kitchen, you have plenty of space to store your finds or put together your own Wine Country snack board.

3. Explore Healdsburg on Two Wheels

Fall is a great time to experience Healdsburg by bike. With comfortable daytime temperatures, beautiful scenery and plenty to explore around town, it’s an easy way to slow down and see a different side of Wine Country.

Hotel Trio guests can grab one of our complimentary bikes and head out for a ride. Cruise into downtown Healdsburg, explore the neighborhoods around the Plaza or simply enjoy a leisurely morning ride before the rest of your day begins.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: Take a morning ride into town, park the bike and reward yourself with a coffee or pastry from one of our local favorites before heading back to the hotel.

4. Find Your Favorite Healdsburg Bite

Healdsburg’s food scene deserves a trip of its own. The town has become just as well known for its food as its wine, with everything from casual local favorites to incredible farm-to-table dining.

Fall brings seasonal ingredients to local menus, making October a great time to try somewhere new or revisit an old favorite.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: For something casual and fun, try Bravas Bar de Tapas and share a few plates on the patio. Another downtown favorite, Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar, is great for shareable small plates.

Looking for breakfast or something sweet? Costeaux French Bakery has been a Healdsburg tradition since 1923, while Quail & Condor is a great stop for artisan breads and pastries.

5. Take in the Fall Vineyard Views

You don’t need a tasting appointment to enjoy Wine Country.

Take a drive along Dry Creek Road and watch the landscape change after harvest. The vineyards begin turning shades of gold, orange and red, making October one of the prettiest times to simply explore.

Bring your camera, turn on your favorite playlist and don’t worry about getting anywhere too quickly.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: Pick up lunch or picnic provisions at Dry Creek General Store, a local staple dating back to 1881, before heading out and making an afternoon of it.

6. Discover Healdsburg’s Art Scene

Wine may get a lot of attention around here, but Healdsburg also has a creative side worth exploring.

Spend an afternoon popping into the galleries around downtown, where you’ll find everything from contemporary art and photography to works from local and regional artists. Paul Mahder Gallery is a great place to start, and you’ll find several other galleries within an easy walk around town.

It’s the perfect activity when you want to slow down, wander and discover something unexpected.

Hotel Trio Team Tip: Make an afternoon of it, browse a few galleries, stop into the local shops and finish with an early dinner downtown. Then head back to Hotel Trio for a game of bocce or an evening relaxing around the fire pits.

7. Make a Weekend of It

There’s too much to experience in Healdsburg to fit into one afternoon.

Spend one day exploring Wine Country and another discovering the restaurants, shops, galleries, local businesses and hidden gems that make Healdsburg special.

With spacious suites, full kitchens, complimentary breakfast, bikes and our downtown shuttle, Hotel Trio Healdsburg makes an easy home base for experiencing it all.

Of course, we love the wine, but Healdsburg is also about incredible food, beautiful scenery, local businesses, outdoor adventures and those afternoons when you have absolutely nowhere you need to be.

So come for the wine, but leave a little room in your itinerary for everything else.

We’ll save you a suite.
